Quiz Night - report

Another great Quiz at the Theydon Bois Village hall on 24th September 2011. Thanks to all who participated and especially to Phil Hughes for running the evening so professionally and punctuated with his inimitable quiet humour. There was something for everyone and Phil's superb use of sound clips provided a constant stream of entertainment.

We had 123 participants, slightly more than our first Quiz in 2009. We were raising money for the St Clare Hospice and I am delighted to report that after allowing for our expenses the amount we raised was £646. Thanks to all who attended for their generosity.

While this event was simply a fun evening with families and friends, it was pleasing to note that we had Old (and not so old) Bucks from at least seventeen different year groups covering all five decades of the school.  And it was also great to see our staff table with some of the longest-serving staff at BHCHS (I reckon a total of 94 years service between them!)

Our versatile Chairman Richard Battersby took some great photos.  This one shows Andy Brett (1955) and his team deep in thought.

We had fifteen teams participating. Click HERE to see the honours board indicating the Old Bucks who were in the teams that finished in the top ten.

Perhaps you are curious about the names we chose for our teams?  They were based on a wonderful set of designs created for us by Colin West (1962) who is a highly talented and successful writer and illustrator of children's books. Each of the table names has a distinct, evocative and amusing theme relating back to Buckhurst Hill CHS. Click on the image below to see all the names and pictures.
