Ian Dunbar, CB

Ian Dunbar (BHCHS 1945-52) died on 21st May 2010.

Ian Dunbar had a successful career in the prison service, joining in 1959 and rising to become a regional director of 25 penal establishments by the mid-1980s.  He played a key role in the investigation of prison unrest in the early 1990s and was responsible for many initiatives to improve methods in prison management.

He was appointed a Companion of the Order of Bath in 1993.

Ian Dunbar is survived by his wife Sally and three children.
